“A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it.
And when birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
Thou dost spurn all who go astray from thy statutes; yea, their cunning is in vain.
He answered, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of man;
“You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.
And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown; when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word which is sown in them.
And when a great crowd came together and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable:
And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.
Therefore we must pay the closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
