(When they heard this all the people and the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John;

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in thy sight, so that thou art justified in thy sentence and blameless in thy judgment.

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us; for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?”

I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and wonderful are thy deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are thy ways, O King of the ages!

And I heard the angel of water say, “Just art thou in these thy judgments, thou who art and wast, O Holy One.

And Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and their great toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has requited me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
