Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a multitude was coming to him, Jesus said to Philip, “How are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?”

Where am I to get meat to give to all this people? For they weep before me and say, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’

And the disciples said to him, “Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?”

And they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves.

On their return the apostles told him what they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a city called Beth-saida.

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.”

Now Philip was from Beth-saida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Philip found Nathana-el, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Nathana-el said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Nathana-el said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest.
