John 3:1

Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

Nicodemus also, who had at first come to him by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds' weight.

Jesus answered him, “Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand this?

And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?
