Give heed, O Job, listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.

Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

“How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and then we will speak.

“Listen carefully to my words, and let this be your consolation.

“Behold, I waited for your words, I listened for your wise sayings, while you searched out what to say.

to bring back his soul from the Pit, that he may see the light of life.

If you have anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify you.

For who among them has stood in the council of the Lord to perceive and to hear his word, or who has given heed to his word and listened?
