Look at me, and be appalled, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer thee? I lay my hand on my mouth.

the princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth;

And they said to him, “Keep quiet, put your hand upon your mouth, and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and family in Israel?”

If you have been foolish, exalting yourself, or if you have been devising evil, put your hand on your mouth.

O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf;

Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time; for it is an evil time.

I am dumb, I do not open my mouth; for it is thou who hast done it.

Upright men are appalled at this, and the innocent stirs himself up against the godless.

And when they saw him from afar, they did not recognize him; and they raised their voices and wept; and they rent their robes and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

Oh that you would keep silent, and it would be your wisdom!

so shall he startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand.
