Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

though he is loath to let it go, and holds it in his mouth,

yet his food is turned in his stomach; it is the gall of asps within him.

On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and brimstone; a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

Then Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven; and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt;

My mind reels, horror has appalled me; the twilight I longed for has been turned for me into trembling.

I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and the end of it like a bitter day.

If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.

And say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.

While the meat was yet between their teeth, before it was consumed, the anger of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague.
