I will be surety for him; of my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever;

For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, ‘If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame in the sight of my father all my life.’

“Call now; is there any one who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

There is no umpire between us, who might lay his hand upon us both.

Be surety for thy servant for good; let not the godless oppress me.

He who gives surety for a stranger will smart for it, but he who hates suretyship is secure.

A man without sense gives a pledge, and becomes surety in the presence of his neighbor.

Take a man's garment when he has given surety for a stranger, and hold him in pledge when he gives surety for foreigners.

Be not one of those who give pledges, who become surety for debts.

and poverty will come upon you like a vagabond, and want like an armed man.

Like a swallow or a crane I clamor, I moan like a dove. My eyes are weary with looking upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; be thou my security!

This makes Jesus the surety of a better covenant.
