Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons shall bow down before you.

In the time of his distress he became yet more faithless to the Lord—this same King Ahaz.

Because he has stretched forth his hand against God, and bids defiance to the Almighty,

because he has covered his face with his fat, and gathered fat upon his loins,

I was at ease, and he broke me asunder; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces; he set me up as his target,

Thou didst make my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed.

For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up;

But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should heed his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”
