Though its root grow old in the earth, and its stump die in the ground,
“For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its shoots will not cease.
yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth branches like a young plant.
Thy dead shall live, their bodies shall rise. O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For thy dew is a dew of light, and on the land of the shades thou wilt let it fall.
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
You foolish man! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
