Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not; for if a law had been given which could make alive, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

He considered that God was able to raise men even from the dead; hence, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law.

For Christ has entered, not into a sanctuary made with hands, a copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
