Now Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

then you shall say, ‘They belong to your servant Jacob; they are a present sent to my lord Esau; and moreover he is behind us.’ ”

They said to him, “No, my lord, but to buy food have your servants come.

Is it not from this that my lord drinks, and by this that he divines? You have done wrong in so doing.’ ”

Behold, the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks, we brought back to you from the land of Canaan; how then should we steal silver or gold from your lord's house?

And Aaron said, “Let not the anger of my lord burn hot; you know the people, that they are set on evil.

Thus says the Lord: “The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours, they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying: ‘God is with you only, and there is no other, no god besides him.’ ”

Then she said, “You are most gracious to me, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not one of your maidservants.”
