And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to the servant, who hastened to prepare it.

And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”

Then he took curds, and milk, and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree while they ate.

But he urged them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

“Woe to those who lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat lambs from the flock, and calves from the midst of the stall;

Cursed be the cheat who has a male in his flock, and vows it, and yet sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished; for I am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and my name is feared among the nations.

Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.’

and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry;

And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.’

But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!’

Now the woman had a fatted calf in the house, and she quickly killed it, and she took flour, and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread of it,
