There are those who are pure in their own eyes but are not cleansed of their filth.

and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood.

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part in me.”

for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before the Lord.
