“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’ ”

“Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.”

The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”

So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you perform?

And you shall take in your hand this rod, with which you shall do the signs.”

So Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning the east wind had brought the locusts.

Then Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven; and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt;

So Moses took his wife and his sons and set them on an ass, and went back to the land of Egypt; and in his hand Moses took the rod of God.

And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

And he said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.
