And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord to gaze and many of them perish.

And Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for thou thyself didst charge us, saying, ‘Set bounds about the mountain, and consecrate it.’ ”

Moses alone shall come near to the Lord; but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”

Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it become a snare in the midst of you.

No man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let no flocks or herds feed before that mountain.”

And command the people, You are about to pass through the territory of your brethren the sons of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So take good heed;

“Only take heed, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children's children—

For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,

that you may know the way you shall go, for you have not passed this way before. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, a distance of about two thousand cubits; do not come near it.”
