Therefore thou art great, O Lord God; for there is none like thee, and there is no God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what deeds thou didst perform in their days, in the days of old:

thou with thy own hand didst drive out the nations, but them thou didst plant; thou didst afflict the peoples, but them thou didst set free;

Men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

The living, the living, he thanks thee, as I do this day; the father makes known to the children thy faithfulness.

and I defiled them through their very gifts in making them offer by fire all their first-born, that I might horrify them; I did it that they might know that I am the Lord.

For when I had brought them into the land which I swore to give them, then wherever they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices and presented the provocation of their offering; there they sent up their soothing odors, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

“Only take heed, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children's children—
