Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (he had the villages of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, and he had the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars);

To the Merarites according to their families were allotted twelve cities out of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

And some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory out of the tribe of Ephraim.

To the Gershomites were given out of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands;

and out of the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,

that the manslayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unintentionally, without being at enmity with him in time past, and that by fleeing to one of these cities he might save his life:

This is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel;

And beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness on the tableland, from the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.

And to the Gershonites, one of the families of the Levites, were given out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the slayer, and Be-eshterah with its pasture lands—two cities;

and out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,

and out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the slayer, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,
