and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you have desire for her and would take her for yourself as wife,

And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob; he loved the maiden and spoke tenderly to her.

But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter; I pray you, give her to him in marriage.

the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took to wife such of them as they chose.

A good wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes;

But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

“When you go forth to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God gives them into your hands, and you take them captive,

then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and pare her nails.
