There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no heed to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”

Upon this Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend; every one who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar.”

They advocate customs which it is not lawful for us Romans to accept or practice.”

But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked fellows of the rabble, they gathered a crowd, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the people.

And the people and the city authorities were disturbed when they heard this.

And in the same way was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

For it is God's will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
