But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shime-i, and Rei, and David's mighty men were not with Adonijah.

Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan was priest and king's friend;

Behold, a son shall be born to you; he shall be a man of peace. I will give him peace from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.

These were born to him in Jerusalem: Shime-a, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, four by Bath-shua, the daughter of Ammiel;

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? Among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was beloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel; nevertheless foreign women made even him to sin.

He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”

and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Of Benjamin he said, “The beloved of the Lord, he dwells in safety by him; he encompasses him all the day long, and makes his dwelling between his shoulders.”
