And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, and said, “Strike this people, I pray thee, with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha.

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand.

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and turn for me to heal them.”

And they struck with blindness the men who were at the door of the house, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves groping for the door.

Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.”

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it sought. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,

On that day, says the Lord, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But upon the house of Judah I will open my eyes, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.

They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noonday as in the night.

The Lord will smite you with madness and blindness and confusion of mind;

And Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city; follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” And he led them to Samaria.

But I will have pity on the house of Judah, and I will deliver them by the Lord their God; I will not deliver them by bow, nor by sword, nor by war, nor by horses, nor by horsemen.”
