He trusted in the Lord the God of Israel; so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him.

And the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this confidence of yours?

“Thus shall you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God on whom you rely deceive you by promising that Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.

And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like thee to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on thee, and in thy name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.”

And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”

After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did wickedly.

Behold, he will slay me; I have no hope; yet I will defend my ways to his face.

But I have trusted in thy steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in thee!

But if you say to me, “We rely on the Lord our God,” is it not he whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and to Jerusalem, “You shall worship before this altar”?

and said, “Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in thy sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory.
