Do not listen to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make your peace with me and come out to me; then every one of you will eat of his own vine, and every one of his own fig tree, and every one of you will drink the water of his own cistern;

A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who guards his master will be honored.

Her nobles send their servants for water; they come to the cisterns, they find no water, they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed and confounded and cover their heads.

In that day, says the Lord of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor under his vine and under his fig tree.”
