So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines; therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.
when a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Make haste and come; for the Philistines have made a raid upon the land.”
And David went up from there, and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.
When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.”
And Saul and his men went to seek him. And David was told; therefore he went down to the rock which is in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men in front of the Wildgoats' Rocks.
We have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!
