But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

A righteous man has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

He who oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

He who closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself cry out and not be heard.

If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

And he answered them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food,

and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?

If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves the child.
