To the Merarites according to their families were allotted twelve cities out of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

To the Gershomites according to their families were allotted thirteen cities out of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.

And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites, by their fathers' houses.

Bezer in the wilderness on the tableland for the Reubenites, and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites.

The Merarites according to their families received from the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
