But a leader must have a good reputation. He must be faithful to his wife. He must be restrained, self-controlled, and worthy of respect. He must welcome people into his home, and he must be able to teach.

Set an example for them in everything by doing what is good. When you teach, be honest and serious,

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his child as well.

We know that we’ve passed from death into life, because we love one another. Anyone who doesn’t love remains in death.

But you’re a man of God, so run away from all those things. Instead, develop righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you’re a young person. Instead, set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live, how you love, and in what you believe. Show the believers how to be pure.

You’re witnesses, and so is God, that we led holy, godly, and blameless lives among you believers.

So stay away from the bad things that young people often want. Try hard to do what’s right and to have faith, love, and peace. Do these things together with all those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

A good and godly man named Simeon lived there in Jerusalem. He was waiting for God’s promise to Israel to come true, and the Holy Spirit was with him.

Paul talked about how to live a godly life, about how people should control themselves, and about the time when God will judge everyone. This made Felix afraid. He said, “That’s enough for now! You may go, but when I find the time, I’ll send for you again.”
