Dear friends, I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share. But I felt that I had to write and urge you to stand up for the faith that God’s holy people have been trusted with once and for all time.
From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To you who have received a faith as precious as ours and who have been made right with our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Even so, I didn’t have any peace of mind, because I couldn’t find my brother Titus there. So I said goodbye to the believers at Troas and went on to Macedonia.
They told the woman, “At first we believed because of what you said. But now we’ve heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
They may have escaped from the corruption of the world, and they may have come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But if they get tangled up again in sin, and it becomes their master, then they’re worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
I asked Titus to go to you, and I sent our brother with him. Titus didn’t take advantage of you, did he? Weren’t he and I guided by the same Spirit to do the very same kinds of things?
