If anyone says, “I know him,” but they don’t do what God commands, then they’re a liar and they’re not telling the truth.

Don’t listen to anyone’s excuses for living like that, because it’s disobedience, and it makes God very angry.

Certain people have secretly slipped in among you. Long ago it was written that they would be found guilty. They’re ungodly people who misuse the grace of our God as an excuse for sexual sins. They deny Jesus Christ, our only Lord and King.

They didn’t think it was important to know God, so God left them unable to discern right from wrong.

Only what is pure will enter the city. No one will enter who does anything that’s shameful or deceitful; only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will enter.

But others will be thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur: cowards, unbelievers, and murderers; those who are impure or commit sexual sins or practice witchcraft; those who worship idols; and all liars. The lake of fire is the second death.”

Anyone who doesn’t provide for their own relatives, and especially for their own family, has denied the faith and is worse than someone who doesn’t believe.

It isn’t made for godly people, but for lawbreakers and rebels, for ungodly and sinful people, for those who aren’t holy and who don’t believe. The law is for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

so that the servant of God will be completely prepared to do everything good.

Remind God’s people to follow their rulers and authorities and to be ready to do what is good.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and controlled by all kinds of wrong desires and pleasures. We were hostile and envious. Other people hated us, and we hated them.
