Some people plant to please their wrong desires, and from those desires they’ll harvest death. Others plant to please the Spirit, and from the Spirit they’ll harvest eternal life.

Dear friends, in this world you’re outsiders who are living away from their land. So don’t give in to your wrong desires, which fight against your soul.

No, I train my body and bring it under control, so that after I’ve preached to others, I won’t be disqualified myself.

It teaches us to say no to godless ways and wrong desires and to live self-controlled, proper, and godly lives in this world

People who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed their wrong desires to his cross. They don’t want to follow them anymore.

You were taught not to live the way you used to, but to get rid of that old way of life, which was corrupted by its deceptive desires.

You’ve made yourselves pure by obeying the truth. Now, you have an honest and true love for each other. So love one another deeply from your hearts.

The power of sin used to control us. The law told us we couldn’t do certain things, but that only made us want to do them more. So our lives produced only death.

Don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

But did you gain any benefit from the things you did then? You’re ashamed of those things now. They lead to death!

Do not grieve God’s Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the proof that you belong to God and that God will set you completely free one day.

When you worked for sin, the pay you got from it was death. But now you’re working for God because you’ve gotten a gift: eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Brothers and sisters, we have a duty to not live the way our wrong desires would lead us.
