We’re full of joy because we expect to share in God’s glory. And that’s not all. We’re full of joy even when we suffer.

Blessed is the person who keeps going when times are difficult. After they’ve made it through these times, they’ll receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to give to those who love him.

But if you suffer for doing what’s right, even then you’ll be blessed. Scripture says, “Don’t fear their threats and don’t be afraid.”

Our troubles are small and they last only for a short time, but they’re earning a glory for us that will last forever. That glory outweighs all our troubles.

Remain strong in the faith, and you will receive eternal life.

So here’s what I’m asking you to do: Don’t be discouraged that I’m suffering for you, because these sufferings are actually an honor for you.

The apostles were full of joy as they left the Sanhedrin. They considered it an honor to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.

You’ve been given the privilege, for the sake of Christ, not only of believing in him but also of suffering for him.

And that’s not all. We are filled with joy from God because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of him, God has brought us back to himself.

And that’s not all. We have the first signs of what the Spirit will give us fully, but we also are groaning inside as we wait for our adoption to be finalized.

And that’s not all. Rebekah’s children were born at the same time, and they had the same father, Isaac.

The churches chose him to come along with us as we collect the offering and bring it to Jerusalem. We’re carrying out this work because we want to honor the Lord and show how ready we are to help.
