King David says the same thing when he tells us how blessed people are when God makes them right with himself. They’re blessed because they don’t have to do anything to make that happen. David says,
God has saved us and called us to live a holy life. This isn’t because of anything we’ve done, but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus even before time began.
Because of what God has done, you belong to Christ Jesus. He has become God’s wisdom for us. He makes us right with God, he makes us holy, and he sets us free.
He set us free so that the blessing that was given to Abraham would come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. That way by faith we would receive the promised Holy Spirit.
He was circumcised as a sign, as an indication that his faith had already made him right with God before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the father of all who are made right with God by believing, even though they haven’t been circumcised.
The good news reveals how God makes people right with himself. This happens by faith from beginning to end, just as it is written, “The one who is right with God will live by faith.”
From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To you who have received a faith as precious as ours and who have been made right with our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
they were also written for us. We believe in the God who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, and God will consider that this makes us right with himself.
Is this blessing only for those who are circumcised, or is it also for those who aren’t circumcised? We’ve been saying Abraham was considered right with God because of his faith.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I take action.” If you do have faith, the only way to show it is by the action it produces. But when I take action, that will show you the faith I have.
