He was circumcised as a sign, as an indication that his faith had already made him right with God before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the father of all who are made right with God by believing, even though they haven’t been circumcised.

All who believe are made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s not any different for Jews than for Gentiles.

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because you, too, are a member of Abraham’s family line.

By faith Noah, out of great respect for God, built an ark to save his family after God warned him about things that could not yet be seen. By doing this Noah showed the world that it was guilty, but he was considered right with God because of his faith.

and he has put his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee that he’ll give us everything else he promised.

I want to belong to him, and I want to be right with God based not on my obedience to the law but on my faith in Christ.

Do not grieve God’s Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the proof that you belong to God and that God will set you completely free one day.

You also came to belong to Christ when you heard the message of truth, the good news about how you could be saved. When you believed, God stamped you with an official mark, the Holy Spirit that he promised.

May peace and mercy be given to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God.

But we, through the Spirit, are eagerly waiting to be made completely right with God by faith.

If you belong to Christ, then you’re Abraham’s seed, and you’ll receive what God has promised.

But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised could be given through faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.

So you should understand that people who have faith are children of Abraham.

Scripture says, “The one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

But doing what God requires starts with having faith in him. Scripture says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into heaven?’ ” (That means to go up into heaven and bring Christ down.)

Christ has fulfilled everything the law was meant to do, so now there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Then Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

They were told not to harm the grass or any plant or tree, but only the people who didn’t have God’s official seal on their foreheads.

From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To you who have received a faith as precious as ours and who have been made right with our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

What should we say then? The Gentiles did not look for a way to be right with God, but they found it by having faith.

But it’s not as if God’s word has failed. Not everyone in the family line of Israel really belongs to Israel.

God did all this to prove that he does what is right and that he makes those who believe in Jesus right with himself.

They answered him, “We’re Abraham’s children. We’ve never been slaves to anybody. So how can you say that we’ll be set free?”

Truly I tell you, everyone who believes has eternal life.

My Father wants everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him to have eternal life. And I will raise them up on the last day.”

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever who does not obey the Son will not see life, because God’s anger remains on them.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

I tell you that many will come from the east and the west and take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

As it is written, “Look! I’m laying a stone in Zion that will cause people to trip. It’s a rock that will make them fall. The one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Anyone who does accept it acknowledges that God is true.

There’s only one God. He’ll make those who are circumcised right with himself by faith, and he’ll make those who aren’t circumcised right with himself by that same faith.

When did that happen? Was it after Abraham was circumcised, or before? It was before.
