They’ve been adopted as God’s children. God’s glory belongs to them, and so do the covenants. They received the law and they were taught to worship in the temple. They were given the promises,
Moses was with the Israelites in the desert, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our people of long ago. He received living words to pass on to us.
By this time, you should be teachers, but instead you need someone to teach you the basic truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food.
If anyone speaks, they should do it as someone who’s speaking God’s own words. If anyone serves, they should do it with the strength that God provides. That way God will be praised in all things through Jesus Christ. May he receive the glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord is the God who gives messages to the prophets, and he has sent his angel to show his servants the things that must take place soon.”
When I heard this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I’m God’s servant, just like you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to what Jesus taught. Worship God! The Spirit of prophecy tells the truth about Jesus.”
It was just the opposite! They recognized that I had been trusted with the task of preaching the good news to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been trusted with preaching to the Jews.
God was bringing the world back to himself through Christ and not holding people’s sins against them. God has trusted us with this message about how people can be brought back to him.
