He has given us the power to serve under a new covenant. It’s not based on the written Law of Moses; it comes from the Holy Spirit. The written Law kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Instead, we are now able to do all the right things that the law requires, because we’re not controlled by those desires. We’re controlled by the Spirit.

No, a person is really a Jew if they’re one on the inside. True circumcision is when the Holy Spirit circumcises a person’s heart. It’s not when a person is circumcised according to the written law. A truly circumcised person receives praise from God, not from other people.

By faith we understand that everything was made at God’s command, so that what we see was made out of what was not visible.

You can obey the entire law by following this one command: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”

Love never does anything wrong to a neighbor. Instead, love does all the good things the law requires.

You know how to make foolish people wise. You see yourself as teaching little children. You think the law has given you all knowledge and truth.

God removed him and made David the king. Here’s what God said about him: ‘David, the son of Jesse, is a man dear to my heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’

Jesus answered, “Please agree to this. It’s right for us to do everything that God is asking of people now.” So then John agreed.

They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts. Their consciences are also helping them to know right from wrong. Sometimes they get the feeling that they’ve done wrong, but at other times they recognize that they’ve done right. It’s the ones who have obeyed the law who will be declared right with God.

Being circumcised is valuable if you obey the law. But if you break the law, it’s just as if you weren’t circumcised.

And sometimes those who aren’t circumcised do what the law requires. Won’t God accept them as if they were circumcised?

There’s only one God. He’ll make those who are circumcised right with himself by faith, and he’ll make those who aren’t circumcised right with himself by that same faith.

Being circumcised means nothing and being uncircumcised means nothing. Doing what God commands is what matters.

Some of you are Gentiles, not Jews, by birth. You’re called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “circumcised.” But they’ve only been circumcised in their bodies by human hands.

You’ve known the Holy Scriptures ever since you were a little child. They’re able to teach you how to be saved through faith in Christ Jesus.
