Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good.

Most of all, love one another deeply, because love covers over many sins.

I’m commanding you to do this for the sake of love, which comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and sincere faith.

You’ve made yourselves pure by obeying the truth. Now, you have an honest and true love for each other. So love one another deeply from your hearts.

but test them all. Hold on to what is good,

Try your best to live at peace with everyone. Do everything you can to be holy, because without holiness no one will see the Lord.

I’m not commanding you to do this. But I do want to challenge you to show how sincere your love is compared with the eagerness of others.

Make sure that no one pays back one wrong act with another. Instead, always try to do what’s good for each other and for everyone else.

We live pure lives. We’re understanding, patient, and kind. We serve God in the Holy Spirit and with true love

You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong, so your God has placed you above your companions and poured the sacred oil of joy on your head.”

We didn’t appeal to you out of error, or from wrong motives, or out of deceit.

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. When he arrived and saw what God’s grace had done, he was very happy. He told them all to remain true to the Lord with their whole hearts. Even more people came to know the Lord.

But he didn’t say that because he cared about the poor. He said it because he was a thief. Judas was in charge of the moneybag, and he used to help himself to what was in it.

Judas went right over to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” Then he kissed him.

But the wisdom that comes from above is first pure, then peace-loving, kind, cooperative, full of mercy and good fruit, fair, and genuine.
