God didn’t spare the angels when they sinned. Instead, he sent them to hell and chained them up in dark prisons. He’s holding them there until the day of judgment.

They have only a dim understanding, and they don’t appreciate what it’s like to follow God. They’re ignorant because their hearts are stubborn.

It is written, “God made it hard for them to understand. He gave them eyes that couldn’t see and ears that couldn’t hear, and they’re still like that today.”

They knew God, but they didn’t honor him as God, and they didn’t thank him. Their thinking became useless and their foolish hearts were darkened.

They’re like wild waves of the sea—their shame rises up like foam. They’re like stars that don’t stay in place. God has reserved very great darkness for them forever.

Some of the angels abandoned their positions of authority and didn’t stay where they belonged. The Lord is keeping those angels in darkness, bound with chains that last forever, until judgment day.

These people are like springs without water and mists driven by a storm. The blackest darkness is reserved for them.
