So God allowed them to do what their sinful hearts wanted. He let them commit sexual sins, and they made one another’s bodies impure by what they did.

But God turned away from them, and they worshipped the sun, moon, and stars instead. This is just what is written in the book of the prophets, where God says to the people of Israel, “ ‘Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings for 40 years in the desert?

In the past, he let all nations go their own way.

Don’t worry about the Pharisees. They’re blind guides. If one blind person leads another, they’ll both fall into a pit.”

He wants all of you to learn to control your own bodies in a way that is holy and honorable.

So keep far away from sexual sins. All the other sins a person commits are outside the body. But if a person commits sexual sins, those are sins against their own body.

Some of you are saying, “Food is meant for the stomach, and the stomach is meant for food, and God will destroy both of them.” But you can’t say the same thing about the body and sexual sins. The body is meant for the Lord, and the Lord is meant for the body.

So don’t let sin rule over your mortal body and make you follow its wrong desires.

At one time we all lived among those things. We followed our wrong desires and thoughts, and we tried to satisfy what they wanted us to do. God was angry with us, as he was with everyone else, because of the kind of people we all were.
