When the time came for him to do this, all the people who had gathered to worship were praying outside.

Another angel came and stood at the altar. He had a shallow gold cup for burning incense. He was given a large amount of incense to offer on the golden altar in front of the throne. With the incense he offered the prayers of all of God’s people.

The temple was filled with smoke that came from the glory and power of God, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

Cornelius couldn’t take his eyes off the angel as he asked fearfully, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have gone up like an offering to God, reminding him of how you have devoted your whole life to him.
