Abraham was looking forward to the city that has foundations, the one that God has planned and built.

If anyone wins the victory, I’ll make that person a pillar in the temple of my God. They’ll never leave it again. On them I’ll write the name of my God and the name of his city, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down from him out of heaven. I’ll also write my new name on them.

We don’t have a lasting city here. Instead, we’re looking for the city that’s going to come.

And if anyone takes away any of the words from this book of prophecy, then God will take away their share in the tree of life and their place in the Holy City, which are also described in this book.

But don’t measure the outer courtyard, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will take over the holy city for 42 months.

The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must happen soon. God made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.

The bride belongs to the groom. The friend who helps the groom waits and listens for him, and he’s filled with joy when he hears the groom’s voice. That joy is mine, and now it is complete.

Instead, they were longing for a better country, a heavenly one. So God isn’t ashamed to be called their God, because he has prepared a city for them.

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I’ll show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The Holy Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the person who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come and take the free gift of the water of life.
