You’ve been faithful and you’ve endured a lot of trouble because of me. You haven’t given up.

You need to stand firm so that when you’ve done God’s will, you’ll receive what he has promised.

Since we’re surrounded by such a huge cloud of witnesses, let’s throw off everything that weighs us down and any sin that gets in our way. Let’s keep on running the race on the course in front of us.

So let’s not get tired of doing good, because we’ll harvest a crop at the right time if we don’t give up.

and you’ll be strong, in keeping with his glorious power. You’ll be patient and never give up.

They will treat you as they do because of my name, because they don’t know the one who sent me.

Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.

You’ve kept my command to remain strong in the faith no matter what happens, so I’m going to keep you from the time of suffering that the rest of the world is going to experience. That suffering will test those who live on the earth.

Abraham waited patiently, and then he received what God had promised him.

We don’t want you to become lazy. Instead, imitate those who receive through faith and patience what God has promised.

God isn’t unfair. He won’t forget what you’ve done and the love you’ve shown him as you’ve helped his people and as you keep on helping them.

This is why we work and try so hard—because we’ve put our hope in the living God, who’s the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

But you, brothers and sisters, don’t ever get tired of doing what is good.

That’s why we never give up. Though our bodies are becoming weaker and weaker, our spirits are being renewed day by day.

So, because we have this work to do through God’s mercy, we don’t give up.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.

But hope that can be seen isn’t really hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we don’t have yet, we wait for it patiently.

Whoever doesn’t carry their cross and follow me can’t be my disciple.

I, John, am your brother and your partner in the suffering, the kingdom, and the patient endurance of Jesus. I was on the island of Patmos because of God’s word and the testimony of Jesus.

To knowledge, add self-control. To self-control, add endurance. To endurance, add godliness.

Whenever we pray to our God and Father, we remember the work that your faith produces, the service that’s the result of your love, and the strength to continue that comes from your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Are they serving Christ? I’m serving him even more. (I’m out of my mind to talk like this!) I’ve worked much harder. I’ve been in prison more often. I’ve suffered terrible beatings. Again and again I’ve almost died.

So we try our best to make sure that he’ll be pleased with us, whether we’re at home in our bodies or away from them.

God will give eternal life to the ones who keep on doing good because they value glory, honor, and the life that never ends.

Then Jesus told his disciples a story to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

But the seed that fell on good soil stands for those who have good and honest hearts. Those people hear the message, keep it in their hearts, remain faithful, and produce a good crop.

So let’s go to him outside the camp and be willing to suffer the shame he suffered.

Elders who lead the church well should be honored both with respect and with financial support. This is especially true of elders who preach and teach.

We didn’t eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, we worked night and day, laboring away so that we wouldn’t cause any expense to any of you.

May the Lord guide your hearts into God’s love and into the strength that Christ gives.

Brothers and sisters, I’m sure you remember how hard we worked. We labored night and day while we preached God’s good news to you so that we wouldn’t cause you any expense.

And I urge you, my true companion, to help these women, because they’ve worked with me to spread the good news. So has Clement, and so have the rest of those who’ve worked together with me. Their names are all written in the book of life.

as you hold on to the word of life. Then I’ll be able to boast on the day when Christ returns that I didn’t run or work for nothing.

Carry one another’s heavy loads, and in that way, you’ll fulfill the law of Christ.

And I won’t brag about the work that others have done. If I did, I’d be bragging more than I should. I hope that my work among you will greatly increase as your faith continues to grow.

We don’t give up if we’re beaten or put in prison, or if people stir up trouble in the streets. We work hard and go without sleep or food if we have to.

Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard for the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard for the Lord.

Remain strong in the faith, and you will receive eternal life.

A man from Cyrene named Simon (he’s the father of Alexander and Rufus) was coming in from the country. When he went past the soldiers who were leading Jesus away, they stopped him and forced him to carry the cross.

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to recognize the godly leaders who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and correct you.

to follow the lead of people like them. Follow everyone who joins in the task and works hard at it.

Simon answered, “Master, we worked hard all night, but we didn’t catch anything. However, because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
