‘I know what you’ve been doing, how you’ve been working long and hard. I that know you don’t tolerate evil people. You’ve tested those who claim to be apostles but aren’t, and you’ve discovered that they’re fakes.

Dear friends, don’t believe every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see if they are from God. Many false prophets have gone out into the world.

but test them all. Hold on to what is good,

‘I know what you’ve been doing. Look! I’ve opened a door in front of you, and no one can shut it. I know you don’t have much strength, but you’ve obeyed my word, and you haven’t denied me.

But God’s solid foundation stands firm, with this message written on it: “The Lord knows who his own people are.” Also, “All those who say that they believe in the Lord must stop doing wrong.”

God isn’t unfair. He won’t forget what you’ve done and the love you’ve shown him as you’ve helped his people and as you keep on helping them.

Then we won’t be babies in the faith anymore. We won’t be like ships tossed around by the waves and blown here and there by every new teaching. We won’t be fooled by the tricks that people use to hide their real plans.

‘I know that you’re suffering and that you’re poor—but you’re rich! I know how you’re being insulted by people who claim to be Jews but aren’t. They’re a synagogue of Satan.

But you do have this in your favor: You hate what the Nicolaitans are doing, just as I hate it.

‘I know what you’ve been doing. I know you’re not cold and you’re not hot. I wish you were one or the other!

But I will tell them outright, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me—you didn’t follow God’s ways!’

He asked this only to challenge Philip. He already knew what he was going to do.

Think about how far you’ve fallen! Realize how you’ve gone wrong, and go back to the things you were doing at first. If you don’t, I’ll come and take your lampstand away.
