He never sinned, but God made him become sin for us, so that in him we could be made right with God.

Because of what God has done, you belong to Christ Jesus. He has become God’s wisdom for us. He makes us right with God, he makes us holy, and he sets us free.

But even though we’re used to following the law, we still know that no one can be made right with God that way. Instead, a person needs to believe in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus to be made right with God. We’re not trying to do that by obeying the law, because no one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Therefore, those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment.

The good news reveals how God makes people right with himself. This happens by faith from beginning to end, just as it is written, “The one who is right with God will live by faith.”

he saved us, not because of any good things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us by washing away our sins so that we were born again.

God has saved us and called us to live a holy life. This isn’t because of anything we’ve done, but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus even before time began.

If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old is gone! The new is here!

As for being strict about the law, I’m a Pharisee. As for zeal, I opposed and attacked the church. As far as keeping the law is concerned, I kept it perfectly.

With your heart you believe and are made right with God, and with your mouth you say what you believe. And so you are saved.

God did what the written law was not able to do, since it was weakened by our sinful desires. God sent his Son to be an offering for sin. He sent him in human form like those who are susceptible to sin. When God did this, he passed judgment against sin so that it could no longer control people through their wrong desires.

Go and learn what this means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ I haven’t come to call those who are right with God. I’ve come for sinners.”

Everyone who sins breaks the law. In fact, sin is breaking the law.

We all fail in many ways. If someone never says the wrong thing, then they’re a perfect person who’s able to keep their whole body under control.

That’s why he swore an oath. Then there were two things that guaranteed God was telling the truth: his promise and his oath. He gave us those two things so that we’d be very encouraged as we run to take hold of the hope that has been set before us.

When sin ruled, it brought death. But when grace rules in the lives of those who are right with God, it brings eternal life. This is all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done.
