In the same way, you who are younger should follow the lead of your elders. All of you should have a humble attitude toward one another, because Scripture says, “God opposes those who are proud, but he gives grace to those who are humble.”
then that person is proud and doesn’t understand anything. They like to argue more than they should, and they’ll always be fighting about what words mean. This results in jealousy, fighting, harmful talk, and bad suspicions.
“I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God, but the Pharisee didn’t. All those who lift themselves up will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be lifted up.”
I’m afraid that when I come I won’t find you as I want you to be, and you won’t find me as you want me to be. I’m afraid that there will be arguing, jealousy, fits of anger, selfish ambition, insults, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.
You’re still following your own wrong desires. If you’re jealous and you’re arguing, aren’t those desires in charge? Aren’t you acting like ordinary human beings?
Let’s act properly, like people living in the daytime. Don’t go to wild parties and don’t get drunk. Don’t do anything immoral or indecent. Don’t get into fights or be jealous of anyone.
