Elders who lead the church well should be honored both with respect and with financial support. This is especially true of elders who preach and teach.

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to recognize the godly leaders who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and correct you.

They refreshed my spirit, and yours also. People like them are worthy of honor.

Please offer her your hospitality, in the way God’s people should welcome a fellow believer. I ask you to help with anything she might need from you, because she has been very helpful to many people herself, including me.

It’s not the ones who praise themselves who are accepted—it’s the ones the Lord praises.

When Timothy comes, make sure he has nothing to worry about while he’s with you. He’s doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.

So when I come, I’ll show everyone what he’s doing. He’s saying malicious things about us that aren’t true. And as if that weren’t bad enough, he’s also refusing to welcome other believers, and he’s keeping others from doing so. In fact, if anyone does welcome them, he’s throwing them out of the church.

Have confidence in your leaders and put yourselves under their authority, because they’re keeping watch over you as people who will have to answer to God for everything they do. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden. It wouldn’t help you at all if you made their work more difficult.

Aristarchus, who’s in prison with me, sends you his greetings. So does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. You’ve been given directions about him. If he comes to you, welcome him.

Make room for us in your hearts. We haven’t cheated anyone, we haven’t corrupted anyone, and we haven’t taken advantage of anyone.

And how can anyone preach to them without being sent? It is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

The people gave us many gifts, and when we were ready to sail, they gave us the supplies we needed.

So there was great joy in that city.

Every day they met together in the temple courtyard. They ate meals together in their homes with glad and sincere hearts,

Truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me, and whoever who accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

The people in some places may not welcome you; if they don’t, leave and shake the dust off your feet. This will be a witness against the people living there.”

So I want even more to send him to you, so that when you see him again, you’ll be encouraged and I won’t be so concerned.
