And I’m confident that God, who has begun a good work in you, will carry it on until it’s completed on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

God is at work in you to help you both to want his good purpose and to work for it.

They all train God’s people to serve so that the body of Christ will be built up,

After you’ve suffered for a little while, the God of all grace will restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. He has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ.

God will keep you strong to the very end, so that you will be blameless on the day he returns.

Keeping this in mind, we pray for you constantly. We pray that God will make you worthy of his calling and, by his power, make every good thing you want to do come true. We pray that he will make perfect everything you’ve done by faith.

So don’t throw away your confidence. It will be richly rewarded.

Jesus answered, “God’s work is to believe in the one he has sent.”

Then you’ll be able to recognize the things that are best, and you’ll be pure and blameless on the day when Christ returns.

And let’s keep looking to Jesus. He’s the one who leads us into faith and the one who makes our faith mature. Because of the joy he was looking forward to, he didn’t let the shame of being put to death on a cross stop him. He suffered on the cross, and then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Whenever we pray to our God and Father, we remember the work that your faith produces, the service that’s the result of your love, and the strength to continue that comes from your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m confident that you will obey, and so I’m writing to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.

You’ve been given the privilege, for the sake of Christ, not only of believing in him but also of suffering for him.

We’re confident in the Lord that you’re doing the things we’ve told you to do and that you’ll keep on doing them.

When you were baptized, you were buried together with Christ, and you were raised to life with him by believing in the work that God did when he raised Jesus from the dead.

I’m glad I can have complete confidence in you.

When they heard this, they didn’t question or criticize Peter any longer. Instead, they praised God and said, “So then, God has allowed even Gentiles to turn away from their sins and find life!”

One of the women who listened to us was named Lydia. She was from the city of Thyatira, and she had a business selling purple cloth. She already believed in God, and the Lord opened her heart to accept Paul’s message.

I’m confident in the Lord that you won’t see this any other way. The people who are getting you so confused will be punished for that, no matter who they are.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be seen for what they really are.

If people from Macedonia come with me and discover that you’re not ready, then we’ll be embarrassed for having been so confident about you. And you’ll be even more embarrassed!

I wrote the way I did so that when I came, you wouldn’t make me sad when you’re supposed to make me happy. I was sure that you would all want the same things I wanted.

Because I was sure of this, I wanted to visit you before I went to Macedonia so that we could see each other twice.

And so, my dear friends, as you’ve always obeyed God—not just while I was with you, but even more now that I’m not with you— continue to work out your own salvation. Do it with fear and trembling.

as you hold on to the word of life. Then I’ll be able to boast on the day when Christ returns that I didn’t run or work for nothing.
