People brought those who were sick into the streets on beds and mats. They were hoping that Peter’s shadow might at least touch some of them as he walked by.
Some men brought him one of their friends who couldn’t walk and was lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Don’t be discouraged, son. Your sins are forgiven.”
When Jesus saw that a crowd was running over to see what was happening, he ordered the evil spirit to leave the boy. “You spirit that makes him unable to hear and speak,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
Demons also came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he commanded them to be quiet, and he didn’t allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.
