Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, then you who live by the Spirit should correct that person. But do it in a gentle way, and be careful, because you could be tempted too.

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed, ‘God, I thank you that I’m not like other people—not like robbers, or people who do other evil things, or those who commit adultery, or even like this tax collector.

How can you say to your friend, ‘Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye,’ when there’s a log in your own eye?

You hypocrite! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye, and then you’ll be able to see to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye.

So when you judge someone else, you don’t have any excuse. When you judge another person, you’re judging yourself, because you do the same things you blame others for doing.
