That’s why I’m suffering the way I am. But I’m not ashamed, because I know the one I’ve believed in and I’m certain that he’s able to protect what I’ve given him. I can trust him with it until the day he returns.

Now there’s a crown waiting for me, the crown that’s given to those who are right with God. The Lord, who judges fairly, will give it to me on the day he returns, and not only to me, but also to all those who are longing for him to return.

He didn’t say this on his own. Rather, as the high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation—

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness, so that day shouldn’t surprise you the way a thief would.

I tell you this: On judgment day, it will be better for Sodom than for that town.

“When the other bridesmaids got back, they called out, ‘Master! Master! Open the door for us!’

“But no one knows what day or time this will happen. The angels in heaven don’t even know, and the Son doesn’t know either—only the Father knows.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven.

May he find mercy from the Lord on the day Jesus returns as judge! You know very well how many ways he helped me in Ephesus.

All these things will happen when he comes to be glorified in his holy people. Everyone who has believed will be amazed when they see him. This includes you, because you have believed our testimony to you.

Truly I tell you, on judgment day it will be easier for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
